About This Place

Sótano Suizo stands as a vibrant culinary and social landmark right in the heart of Zona Urbana Rio Tijuana. As a unique fusion of restaurant, bar, and pizza joint, it masterfully blends flavors from various corners, creating an atmosphere that keeps locals and visitors coming back since 1989.

Step inside, and you're immediately surrounded by the lively buzz of a place that thrives on tradition and community spirit. The restaurant's spacious jardín terraza offers an inviting, relaxed setting complemented by carefully curated music videos, often from the nostalgic 80's era, which enhances that lively yet welcoming vibe.

The menu at Sótano Suizo is eclectic yet thoughtfully composed, making it a true haven for food lovers seeking both hearty and gourmet delights. Meat aficionados will revel in the juiciness of the rib eye steaks and the indulgently named Viking steak, both praised for their perfect cook and tender texture. For something truly iconic, the Hot Dog Mamut and the house-special Hot Dog Sótano Suizo stand out with their generous portions and carefully balanced toppings, delivering a satisfying burst of flavor in every bite.

Adventurous palates will appreciate the exquisite escargots, a delicacy that pairs beautifully with one of their many beers on tap or in the bottle. Sótano Suizo’s beer selection is impressively diverse, featuring Mexican classics like XX Ámbar and Miller Highlife, alongside international favorites such as Cerveza Guinness, Affligem Blondie, and Leffe Ruby. The bar mixology is equally inventive, with cocktails like the Martini de Tamarindo and the energizing Carajillo, perfect for both casual drinks or celebratory toasts.

One of the crowd favorites — the Clamato con Almejas — is a refreshing and savory cocktail that has become a signature highlight, often cited by longtime patrons. The Sandwich de Roast Beef and the gourmet Pizza de la Caza con extra chile morrón verde demonstrate the kitchen’s commitment to quality and bold flavor combinations, rounding out a menu that never feels ordinary.

Customer reviews capture the essence of Sótano Suizo’s enduring reputation: Chris Sanchez reflects on over two decades of memorable moments here, from watching World Cup matches to celebrating milestones, praising its resilience through challenging times and the timeless appeal of its classic dishes. Ana Larrazolo highlights the incredible value and taste, with juicy steaks and gourmet pizzas paired seamlessly with top-notch service. Meanwhile, J.C. Rodriguez recommends the Viking steak and points to the cold beers served with five-star hospitality. Even Keith Michael Godfrey, while more critical of certain dishes, found the hot dogs and lively atmosphere unbeatable, especially during the popular happy hour featuring excellent two-for-one deals.

Whether you’re after a solid meal with friends, an engaging spot to catch the game, or a flavorful date night venue, Sótano Suizo offers an authentic taste of Tijuana’s food and drink culture. Its combination of diverse menu options, a lively yet approachable ambiance, and friendly, attentive service assures an experience that is as satisfying as it is memorable.

Remember to bring cash, and get ready to dive into a culinary adventure where tradition meets bold innovation, all under one welcoming roof at Sótano Suizo.

Been coming to this place for over 20 years, Clamato is a classic, so is the mamut hot dog and the escargot, happy hour is 5-7, this is THE ONLY bar in Tj to survive all recessions and pandemics, it is worthwhile visiting and a must sin 1989. I have celebrated many birthdays and watched many world cup soccer games, looking forward to many more.

It's a great place to go and grab a couple of drinks with friends and family or to go on a nice date. Music is a little too loud, but it's manageable

Had the Viking steak, Definitely lived up to the name. Can't wait to go back. Meat was cooked perfectly and the beer was cold. Five star service. Highly recommend.

Good place to watch sporting events. Lively crowd. Nicely stocked bar. As for the food, stick with the hotdogs...very good! Steak was not great by TJ standards. The wings (alitas) were okay. Service and drinks are good. Great happy hour prices (2 for 1) also. CASH ONLY.

Always a pleasure to visit this place, good music great beer and delicious food. You can't leave without trying the MAMUT DOG. Don't miss the happy hour 5-7 p.m. 2x1 on all national drinks.

I've been coming here for many years now. The food and especially the service are good. The one negative thing I have to say is that their happy hour is no longer good anymore. It can get a bit expensive, but I'd still recommend it. Love the 80s new wave music they play

A TJ classic pub with an under-rated kitchen. Musis always blasing, great selection of beers and grest ambiance.
